Homemade dry with blackcurrant

I tried a very nice home-brewed cider while in Costa Rica. Robert (an experienced beer and wine maker) made this from a British home brew kit: an apple cider with blackcurrant. It was very dry with a good bit of blackcurrant flavour. The kit was by Muntons, a well known British beer, wine and cider kit manufacturer.

Magnotta Apple Flavoured Cider

As the name indicates, this is an "apple flavoured" cider. It is apple cider with fructose and "flavour" added. It tastes as bad as that all sounds. It is low-medium sweet. Avoid!

Clafeld Smashed!

A new cider from Clafeld Cider House of Picton, Ontario. Amber coloured and slightly sweet from off-dry but balanced with a light astringency. My score 7/10.

Local Press Cider

An interesting cider from Collective Arts Cider of Hamilton, Ontario. Made from Northern Spy, Idared and Spartan apples. Off-dry with a clean, light taste.

Duntroon Standing Rock

A relatively new Ontario cider that is nicely balanced, off dry, with a light-medium taste. Very nice. My rating 7/10.

Lowrey Bros. Hard Cider

From St. Davids, Ontario, is a very dry cider (what they call "extra dry" right on the label) with astringent tang. It is harsh on the first taste (or two) but is agreeable, and would go well with food. My rating 5/10.

Reinhart's Red Apple Light

This a light - 3.8% alcohol - cider with a light sweetness. A light taste but not too interesting. My score 5/10.
